Caleb J. Murphy’s bittersweet folk music grows from his upbringing in the Appalachian foothills in overcast Western Pennsylvania.
His lyrics often revisit childhood memories, are honest with grief, and grapple with faith and doubt and the remnants of his former Evangelical Christian beliefs. And his musical style fits these nostalgic song topics as he pulls from songwriters across many generations, like Paul Simon, Henry Jamison, Nick Drake, and Iron & Wine.
He’s racked up 600k+ streams on his music, won “Lyric of the Year” at the Corpus Christi Songwriters Festival (2023), and has had songs placed on ABC, NBC, and Canadian TV.
Since 2019, he’s released four albums, two EPs, and several standalone singles, writing and producing everything primarily on his own with remote contributions from talented musicians.
Starting March 14, 2025, he will be releasing one song a week from his upcoming 10-song album, As the Low Light Bends. This album — which features artists like Jeff Pianki, Aaron Percy, Don Mitchell (from Darlingside), and others — talks about the passage of time, settling into life, and the bittersweetness of it all.
The full album will be publicly available in May, but Patreon members can listen to its entirety right now.
